***Marching Band Calendar Change*** - Due to an unforeseen facility issue, we have moved the times of 5 of our rehearsals. The dates have not changed. Instead, Marching Band will run from 4:00pm-7:00pm on the following dates:
Monday, September 9, 2024 Wednesday, October 2, 2024 Wednesday, October 9, 2024 Monday, October 14, 2024 Donations Campaign - The students will be participating in an online donation campaign. Students will be asking family and friends to make donations. More information will come out as we get closer. Playing Tests - All musicians will be given a sheet that will have to be completed by the end of the semester. Each student will have an individual private test with the director in his office. The grading system consists of the numbers 1-5 in which the student will need to get at least a 4. In order to advance onto the next playing packet you must pass all the playing tests on your paper. Skill Assessments - All guard student will be given a sheet that will have to be completed by the end of the semester. Each student will have a small group test with the director. The grading system consists of the numbers 1-5 in which the student will need to get at least a 4. In order to advance onto the next playing packet you must pass all the playing tests on your paper. Theory Assignments - These assignments will be given about every other week for musicians starting on September 9th. Each unit contains 5 lessons and at the end every student will be given a test on all of the lessons learned in their theory. If the student passes their theory final they will progress to the next theory level. Assignments are given on Monday and are due on Friday. Restaurant Night (9/18) - Our next restaurant is set. It will be at Chipotle on September 18th from 5:00pm-9:00pm. These are event where a restaurant will donate a percentage of what you spend. Most of the time you will need a flyer. Here is the flyer. Homecoming Assembly (9/20) - The Band students will be playing at this assembly. They will not need to miss class since the assembly is during 4th period. Students must wear their red member shirt for the assembly. Dry Mix Day (9/21) - Parents can participate to help make the mix for the funnel cakes on September 21st. The mix will be used for the funnel cake fundraiser on Tiller Days. We will need around 12 parents to participate on this day. Sign-ups Home Football Game (9/21) - The call time is 6:00pm. The game starts at 7:00pm and should be over by around 9:30pm. Tonight is homecoming. We will be performing at pregame and throughout the game in the stands. Band and Orchestra Picture Day (9/26) - We will have our annual picture day on Thursday, September 26th during class. Orchestra will take their picture during 3rd period and band and guard will take their picture during 4th period (Colorguard will be excused from class). Orchestra needs to wear their concert black. Band will be wearing their uniforms without their shakos and guard will be in their parade uniforms. All students need to be in the picture, but purchasing pictures is optional. Order Sheet Tiller Days Parade (10/5) - This year the parade is on Saturday, October 5th. We do not know the order of the parade until the morning of, however, I believe that we are last. Itinerary (coming soon) Tiller Days Fundraiser (10/4-10/6) - During Tiller Days we sell funnel cakes and deep fried Twinkies. We make over $8,000 on this weekend alone. We need parent and student help to make this weekend successful. The students will sign up at school. We have specific jobs to sign up for. I have put the job descriptions below. When you are signing up please email me the shifts and the jobs you would like. I will let you know if I signed you up or if the shift is full. Lower on this page is the Sign-ups. When I add you it will automatically show up on this page Adult Sign Ups Student Sign Ups Coordinator – The coordinator job is the go to person at the event at that time. This job is for parents who have participated at Tiller Days in the past. You will be given a checklist for your shift which will help you. We will also have a meeting the week before Tiller Days will all coordinators. Cashier – The cashier will be responsible for taking the orders. You will be dealing directly with customers. Cooker – The cooker will be cooking the funnel cakes. If you have never cooked funnel cakes you will be able to learn (they are not that hard). The Coordinator will be there to help you get started. Buy Eggs/Milk – We need a parent to buy the milk and/or eggs each day and bring them to the fundraising site. You will have to buy them but will be reimbursed the next week, Just save the receipt. Wash Aprons – We need a parent to take home the aprons every night and wash them. You will need to pick them up that night and bring them back the next day. Wash Dishes – We need a parent to take home the dishes every night and wash them. You will need to pick them up that night and bring them back the next day. Restaurant Night (10/17) - Our next restaurant is set. It will be at Ruby's on October 17th from TBA. These are event where a restaurant will donate a percentage of what you spend. Most of the time you will need a flyer. Flyer (Coming Soon) Marching Band Competition (10/19) - Our first field competition is at Chaffey High School on October 19th.
